Livestock Vet and Medical Care
At Animal Medical Center, we are proud to offer veterinary services for cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, and other livestock species. We are fully equipped to treat them in the house or offer farm calls when needed.
We would be happy to aid in diagnosing, treating, and providing expert counsel to help you achieve your herd goals and resolve routine and complex herd health issues.
Livestock Preventative Care
Vaccination and parasite prevention are especially important in livestock because it helps prevent the spread of disease in the human population. Preventative care options are available at Animal Medical Center and at your farm or ranch.
Preventative care options include:
- Vaccinations
- Deworming
- Wellness exams
- And more

Sheep, goats, and pigs also require proper vaccination and examinations to maintain good health.
Viral infections, such as BVD, IBR, PI3, and BRSV can all cause disease outbreaks in the cattle population which results in decreased herd health and reduction in production efficiency.
Core vaccinations for calves between the ages of 2-4 months should include:
- Black Leg (nine-way clostridial)
- BVD, IBR, PI3, BRSV
Vaccination Schedule for cattle 6 months and older
- Black Leg (annually)
- Lepto (twice annually)
- Respiratory (annually)
- Brucellosis (females 4-12 months)
- Deworming (2-3 times annually)
Additional vaccines such as pinkeye and anaplasmosis may also be beneficial to your herd health.
Reproduction and Breeding Soundness
We are able to provide reproductive services for your cattle, including fertility testing for bulls and rectal palpation and ultrasound imaging for determining where females are in their cycle or pregnancy. We also offer assistance, when required, for complicated or difficult births (dystocia) using manual manipulation or C-section.
General Surgery for Your Livestock
General surgery options are available for cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, and other livestock and include:
- Castrations
- Laceration repair
- Dehorning
- C-sections
- And more
Sedation and local and/or general anesthesia, if required, are given to decrease the animal’s stress level and provide as much comfort as possible during the procedure. Most surgical procedures are released the same day, but we are able to provide overnight hospitalization in covered outdoor stalls if needed.
